CONTINUED LEGAL EDUCATION TAUGHT BY KENNETH CARP

Kenneth Carp has been an invited featured speaker at a number of Continued Legal Education (CLE) courses. Continued Legal Education is a requirement that licensed attorneys are required to meet by that licensed attorney attending an educational event which is certified to satisfy a licensed attorney's state mandated CLE requirement.

A Lawyer's teacher is a way to look at Ken when he is teaching a CLE. In order for a course to count as a CLE course, the curriculum must be approved the state bar association, which is the licensing board for attorneys. The following are some of the Continued Legal Education (CLE) courses that Kenneth Carp has taught.

"REAL PROPERTY FORECLOSURE: A Step by Step Workshop" was a workshop sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI) where Mr. Carp spoke on "How Bankruptcy Changes The Landscape". Mr. Carp taught the following curriculum to Attorneys, In-House Counsel, Mortgage Brokers and Loan Officers:

  • The Automatic Stay
  • Chapter 7 and 13 Basics
  • Post-Foreclosure Sale or Short Payoff
  • Protecting the Creditor's Position
  • Noteworthy Foreclosure Litigation

"Financial Divorce Settlements From Start To Finish" - "Help Clients Maintain Financial Independence After Divorce" was a workshop sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI) which was attended by Attorneys, Financial Divorce Specialist, Financial Planners and Paralegals. Kenneth Carp taught "Mortgage And Credit Treatment In Divorce" and included:

  • Assessing Current Financial Situation
  • Budgeting And Sources Of Income
  • Financing and Re-Financing options/Mortgage Products
  • Implementing and Monitoring The Plan
  • Short Sales On Real Estate
  • When All Else Fails: Foreclosure In Divorce

"BANKRUPTCY, FORECLOSURES & DIVORCE" was a taught by Kenneth Carp at the 11th Annual Family Law Conference sponsored by the Missouri Bar Association. The conference was attended by Family Law Attorneys, Mediators and Professionals whose practice focuses on Family Law. The curriculum offered in the CLE was:

  • Bankruptcy Basics - Chapter 7 and 13
  • Automatic Stay
  • Domestic Support Obligations
  • Divorce Separation Agreements
  • Foreclosure

"Bankruptcy In Divorce" was a CLE course taught by Kenneth Carp as a part of the "Financial Divorce Settlements From Start To Finish" - "Help Clients Maintain Financial Independence After Divorce" sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI) which was attended by Attorneys, Financial Divorce Specialist, Financial Planners and Paralegals. The CLE material included:

  • Who Files And When
  • Chapter 7 or 13 - The Means Test
  • The Bankruptcy Estate And Its Limitations
  • Priority And Dischargeability of Debts
  • Fraudulent Conveyances
  • The Impact On Spouse Not Filing Bankruptcy
  • Application Of The Automatic Stay

"AVOIDING PROBATE AND UNDERSTANDING ESTATE PLANNING" is a CLE that Lt. Col. Carp, USAF (ret) has given military Staff Judge Advocates from throughout the country, as near as Illinois and as far as California. These CLEs have provided military attorneys the skills they have needed to assist military members and their families with the necessary information to plan for estate planning needs for members of the US Armed Forces.

"'LIEN STRIPPING'" JUNIOR MORTGAGES was a CLE offered by LawReview CLE wherein Kenneth Carp was invited to attorneys, financial and mortgage professionals on Junior Mortgages within a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. The curriculum included:

  • Statutory and Case law basis
  • Planning Considerations
  • Executions
  • Potential Issues
  • Post Plan Completion and Discharge

"BANKRUPTCY BASICS" is a CLE that Lt. Col. Carp has taught on a number of occasions to military Staff Judge Advocates (JAGs) from throughout the region. The curriculum has included:

  • Chapter 7 and Chapter 13
  • The Automatic Stay
  • Jurisdictional Issues
  • Security Clearance and Bankruptcy
  • Bankruptcy Process

OTHER SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

"PROBATE AND ESTATE PLANNING FOR SENIOR CITIZENS" is a presentation Kenneth Carp has given on behalf of AARP's Speaker Bureau on numerous occasions throughout the Greater St. Louis Area. Ken has given a simple to understand presentation on the basics of Probate and Estate Planning to Seniors without the scare factor and in a manner which has helped the attendees understand how to advise Seniors.

"BANKRUPTCY FOR MILITARY MEMBERS" is a presentation that Lt. Col. Carp has given to military members and their families at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. This presentation, which Ken has given at least ten times, has provided important information that has helped members of our military understand bankruptcy and how it might assist them.

"ESTATE PLANNING - PROBATE AND LIVING TRUSTS" is a presentation that Ken has given to civic groups throughout St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson County throughout the years. The presentations provide essential information in an easy to understand manner and has allowed the attendees to leave with sound working knowledge.

"CREDIT FRAUD" is a presentation that Kenneth Carp has given to St. Louis Foster Parents as a part of a program to keep the Forster Parents alert and well educated for themselves as well as to prepare those under their care for life.
