As we blogged about previously, attorney Kenneth Carp has been appointed trustee to oversee the matters arising from Missouri lawyer Jeffery M. Witt’s sudden disappearance late last year. Mr. Carp will be discussing the matter on KRTS (550 AM) from 8:00 to 9:00 AM Friday, April 18, hosted by Scott Shipman.
Prior to his disappearance, Witt had been the subject of scrutiny from the Missouri Bar Association’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Council regarding professional misconduct, as well as having legal issues of his own. He was recently arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport by FBI agents upon arriving on a flight originating in Istanbul, Turkey. The latest allegations against Witt are that he enlisted the help of a female client in order to fraudulently obtain a home equity loan on his mother’s home.
Witt’s license to practice law has been suspended by the Missouri Supreme Court since December 2, 2013, when the Court found that there was probable cause to believe that Witt had committed professional misconduct and that he posed a “substantial threat of irreparable harm to the public.”
